TRADITIONAL KARATE

KENSEIKAN

KARATE - DO

The meaning of Kenseikan in its pure form is "Ken" is a fist and "Sei" is life.
Adding a Zen influence it translates as "Live your life believing in the power of your own true Self"

CLASSES

4 - 6 year olds

NINJA

sessionS

Students of this age group will be taught basic co-ordination skills including left and right side of body, balancing, movements of limbs, basic Japanese counting and terminology, progressing to basic karate motions including blocking and evading skills. Fitness improvement including running, push-ups and sit ups.

7 - 12 year olds

SAMURAI

sessionS

Students will learn the basics as per the Ninja classes, plus Kata for each belt requirement and self defence techniques. Blocking, punching & kicking skills.  Also incorporating breathing and meditation skills. Class emphasis in lengthening concentration and memory skills.
Fitness work includes skipping and impact bag work.

TEENS - ADULTS

SENIOR

sessions

As per Samurai class, plus more complex combinations of blocking, punching, kicking, striking & self defence.

Classes rotate between Kihon (basics) Kata (patterns of karate techniques) and Kumite (sparring).

Plus Self Defence and Bunkai (kata techniques explained
and explored).  Weaponry including bo (staff), long and
short sword.
Fitness is part of training including running for speed and endurance, skipping, push ups, lay backs and stretching.
